The legendary Bill Monroe was greatly influenced by the great fiddle playing of his uncle Pendleton Vandiver. He was so moved by his uncle's music that he played tribute to him in the song Uncle Pen, which went to #1 in the country music charts. He later created The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Country Star Museum to honor those he felt had made a substantial contribution to bluegrass music.
