A three-decade darling of the blues genre, Janiva’s vocal prowess and performance is the best of the genre. In May 2006 she beat out contemporaries Susan Tedeschi, Shemekia Copeland and Marcia Ball to win the 2006 Blues Music Award for ‘Contemporary Female Artist of the Year.’
