TheRuinCity is a five-piece pop rock band from the Washington DC area. TheRuinCity prides themselves in creating music with a unique upbeat style and sound, influenced by bands such as Augustana, Copeland, Switchfoot and The Fray. The band was founded in 2010 by frontman and piano player Mike Daknis, along with lead and rhythm guitar players Josh and David Hoppel. The band later added drummer Dillon Knighton, and bass player Kyle O'Keefe.
TheRuinCity debuted with their critically acclaimed self-titled EP on September 4th, 2011, and quickly caught the attention of the local music scene. The band's love of music, each other, and just having a good time, results in an inspired live performance, characterized by their energy and passion. In their first few months of performing, they have sold out multiple headlining shows in the DC area. Their single, "What I Mean To You", has been selected to play on all Delta airlines flights this spring. The band is determined to use their music for a purpose greater than themselves, and this vision led them to donate all of the proceeds from their EP to a non-profit organization called Love 146 to help prevent child trafficking, and help rehabilitate survivors. |
