Originally named the Oxford Tavern, The Zoo Bar Cafe is located across from the National Zoo in northwest Washington D.C. for decades. It is one of a kind. and has slowly metamorphosed into a serious place for music, food, and interesting conversation. Even the name has morphed into "The Zoo Bar Cafe in 2003"., however the regulars just call it the Zoo Bar. Since the early 90's, the cuisine is more diverse and delectable and the musicians of a finer quality. It's appealing sidewalk atmosphere is perfect for a lazy summer day of watching tourists and locals come and go from the National Zoo or walk / jog on the Avenue. Great burgers and soups will fill a lunch time appetite. At dinner time, there are daily entrees to wet the palate and don't forget a dessert and a cognac to complete the evening. Whether its date night or you're on your own, the staff is courteous and attentive, the prices reasonable, the conversation affable and the music will rock you. |
