A few years ago, deep in the woods of the Bill Monroe Campground, Carson began blowing his harp with players from all over the world who had come to John Hall’s, Bean Blossom Blues and Brews. As Carson played guitar, harmonica, and sang, the spirit of the campground touched his soul. While many people ask who Carson’s influences are, honestly, he just plays from his heart and takes in the music around him. A few weeks before the contest the following year, Carson received his first Hohner Harmonica. Carson would win the Bean Blossom Blues Fest harmonica contest 4 years in a row. He had the opportunity to jam and learn from Jason Ricci, Charlie McCoy, and Bobby Rush. Five years later at the age of 13, he became the youngest harmonica player endorsed by Hohner. In 2011 Carson represented the Indiana Blues Society in the youth showcase at the International Blues challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Carson won the right to compete again at the International Blues challenge again in 2012.
