Bo Diddley was coming to town, and we were told we could back Bo up. We would come out and do an hour, he'd come out and do an hour, clear the house and do it again. But Fat Tuesday wasn't interested, they'd done stuff like that before. But I had a friend, Automatic Slim, who was sitting in with the band that night. When they said no, I was kind of dejected. Then Slim came to me, and said: "Take the gig! We'll put a show together."
